Atorvastatin Tablet

Atorvastatin (a-TOR-va-stat-in) is a medicine, which is used to control & lower cholesterol and triglyceride (fat-like substance) levels in the blood. Using this medicine may assist in preventing the medical problems that are caused by the clogging of blood vessels by these substances.

This medicine may also be prescribed to prevent certain kind of heart problems in adults with risk factors for heart problems. Atorvastatin belongs to the category of medicines, which are called 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors. It functions through blocking an enzyme, which is most needed by the body to make cholesterol, hence reducing the amount of cholesterol level in the blood.
